I wrote this tune back in 1994 on Mathew Goodheart's grand piano that sat in my living room on 59 Bolinas Rd. in Fairfax Ca. for a few years. This tune has only been heard by one person other than myself all of this time. I just started recording it in my studio in November of 2018.

AFTER THE LAST CURTAIN CALL

Bartender fix me a drink
and lend me your ear.
So you say you don't know who I am
well that's ok. But just let me say
that the world can be a bitter place
for a washed up old movie star.

I used to do a pretty good Shakespear
turn around and play a big city cop.
Yes, and all the critics love you
when your on top.
But every movie has to come to an end
and soon they all forget just who you are.

What do you do when the soundtracks over
and the studio lights go down,
after the last cast party
when you find yourself all alone?
The telephone it don't ring no more
and your oscars gather dust in the hall.
Well, is there life after the last curtain call?

You say I'm lucky to be alive,
sometimes I'd rather be dead.
Feel there's no reason for me togo on;
I've been suffering much too long.
But don't get me wrong,
I'm happy to have had the chance
to be the star of some hollywood romance.
