BOUND TO GET BETTER

Outside my door is a battle field.
Everyday I feel like I'm at war.
put on my straight face and go outside.
Sunglasses down to shield me from my enemies.
No not a word to the passers by.
Like momma said
"Don't talk to strangers
if you know what's good for you."
On guard and forward 'till I'm safe from the crowds
and the chaos and the words better left unsaid.

that it's not getting any worse,
but deep inside I tell myself something else.

I turned on my T.V. set last night;
always something on to bring me down.
So I turned it off and went into the kitchen,
poured myself a cup of mate
and sat down to write this song.
Thought about the starving children in America.
And I thought about the people who walk by
and don't give a damn at all.
Then we wonder why we can't turn our backs on our neighbors
without fearing for our lives.
